Says J. B. Jackson author of , “The Necessity for Ruins”,

“America is turning into a landscape of ‘made-up’ or imitation landscapes. Places where there is no lesson to learn, no covenant to honor; we are charmed into a state of innocence and become part of the environment. History ceases to exist.”

Continues Jackson,

“…the new reconstructed environments are being turned into scenes of unreality.”

The CRDC is also concerned with the ever-increasing number of imitation landscapes being produced across our country. At times, it seems we no longer know the difference between a caricature of a landscape and a genuine landscape which embodies the reality of our time with an honest and informed portrayal of site history.
